Removal of a 2x6 form from a cured concrete slab

New postby rmolina » Tue Jul 26, 2005 10:00 pm

I dug out a 4' x 6' x 1' hole in preperation for a concrete slab. I filled the hole with about 4'x6'x5" of gravel and compacted it. I then layed my 3'x5' form using 2x6's. My concern is when I remove the form I will be left with a 3'x5'x4" slab that sits atop a compacted bed of 3'x5'x2". I expect the 2" gravel bed will MAPS out causing the slap to sink. Do I:

a) Remove the forms and fill the remaining gab with gravel or soil?

b) Leave the forms. However the forms are not pressure treated and are sure to rott.
